{"id":15035,"date":"2013-06-07T13:31:03","date_gmt":"2013-06-07T13:31:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=0bf047256f55dd0186d5fe0176ff5d71"},"modified":"2013-06-07T13:31:03","modified_gmt":"2013-06-07T13:31:03","slug":"press-release-press-briefing-afternoon-6-june-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=15035","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Press briefing: afternoon 6 June 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<h2 id=\"intelligence-and-security-committee-isc-report\">Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC) report<\/h2>\n<p>Asked about the Intelligence and Security Committee\u2019s report on telecommunications and security, the Prime Minister\u2019s spokesman (<abbr title=\"Prime Minister's Spokesperson\">PMS<\/abbr>) said that the Prime Minister accepted the central point of the report. He pointed out that new measures and procedures had since been put in place.  <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"economy\">Economy<\/h2>\n<p>Responding to a question on whether the economy was recovering, the <abbr title=\"Prime Minister's Spokesperson\">PMS<\/abbr> said the economy was healing. He said that the deficit was down by a third and a million and a quarter new private sector jobs had been created.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"libor\">Libor<\/h2>\n<p>Asked what the government\u2019s reaction would be if London lost its Libor oversight role, the <abbr title=\"Prime Minister's Spokesperson\">PMS<\/abbr> said he would not comment on a leaked document. More widely, he made the point that it had been recognised that benchmark manipulation was a global problem. He said this was why the European Commission had undertaken work around benchmarks. Asked a follow up question on whether the government would prefer Libor to remain in this country, the <abbr title=\"Prime Minister's Spokesperson\">PMS<\/abbr> said it was the UK government that had taken the strong leadership action necessary with regards to the controls that were needed for Libor.
