{"id":34700,"date":"2013-11-13T15:00:11","date_gmt":"2013-11-13T15:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=c5042a4b43fd3f87d4f5b3c758424070"},"modified":"2013-11-13T15:00:11","modified_gmt":"2013-11-13T15:00:11","slug":"news-story-mod-awards-regional-construction-contracts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=34700","title":{"rendered":"News story: MOD awards regional construction contracts"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The framework covers an area spanning Lincolnshire to Essex.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives of the successful companies attended a special ceremony in London on 11 November 2013 to sign \u2018partnering charters\u2019, which set out a number of principles and behaviours that are intended to promote effective joint working.<\/p>\n<p>Contracts have been awarded for the <a href=\"\/government\/news\/mod-kick-starts-tendering-for-east-region-construction-projects\">Regional Capital Works Framework East Midlands and Eastern England<\/a> \u2013 delivering regional projects each valued at up to \u00a312 million \u2013 to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Henry Brothers (Magherafelt) Limited <\/li>\n<li>Interserve Construction Limited <\/li>\n<li>Mansell Construction Services Limited <\/li>\n<li>Morgan Sindall plc <\/li>\n<li>Shepherd Construction Limited<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This framework is estimated to be worth between \u00a3100 million and \u00a3250 million over an initial 4-year period, with the option to extend by up to a further 3 years.<\/p>\n<p>It is also the first of 7 capital works frameworks that are being procured under the <a href=\"\/government\/publications\/next-generation-estate-contracts-ngec\">Next Generation Estate Contracts<\/a> (<abbr title=\"Next Generation Estate Contracts\">NGEC<\/abbr>) programme for the delivery of construction projects on the Defence Estate and is a major step forward in the programme. <\/p>\n<p>There are 5 other regional frameworks and 1 national framework. It is expected that, in addition to supporting other requirements, the frameworks will be used to procure a significant proportion of work in support of military rebasing up to 2020. <\/p>\n<p>When project requirements are identified as suitable for delivery through the framework, the 5 companies will be invited to engage in \u2018mini-competitions\u2019, tendering for design and build solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Manley, <a href=\"\/government\/organisations\/defence-infrastructure-organisation\">Defence Infrastructure Organisation<\/a> (<abbr title=\"Defence Infrastructure Organisation\">DIO<\/abbr>) Chief Executive, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><abbr title=\"Defence Infrastructure Organisation\">DIO<\/abbr>\u2019s priority is to support our Armed Forces as they live, work and train on the military estate.<\/p>\n<p>I am pleased that future defence construction requirements will start to be met through this framework consisting of these respected businesses in what will be a busy time for military rebasing and site development.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The capital works frameworks programme will ensure ongoing competitive tension, better value for money, and will speed up the procurement of projects.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Matt Foley, the Head of <abbr title=\"Next Generation Estate Contracts\">NGEC<\/abbr>, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><abbr title=\"Defence Infrastructure Organisation\">DIO<\/abbr> has worked hard to attract the best companies into the procurement process, whether as potential main contractors or subcontractors, and have rigorously evaluated the bidders\u2019 ability to deliver a wide range of potential defence projects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I am confident that these companies are now ready to deliver the construction work the defence front line requires.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The framework will be used for the majority of future UK defence construction projects.<\/p>\n<p>The Regional Capital Works Framework for the East Midlands and Eastern England will operate alongside the <a href=\"\/government\/publications\/national-and-regional-capital-works-frameworks\">National Capital Works Framework<\/a> which will be used for projects worth up to \u00a350 million.<\/p>\n<p>Under the aims of the <a href=\"\/government\/publications\/government-construction-strategy\">Government Construction Strategy<\/a>, the framework will introduce the use of <a href=\"\/government\/publications\/building-information-modelling\">building information modelling<\/a> and the NEC3 form of contract. <\/p>\n<p>They will champion prompt payment principles through the use of project bank accounts and other initiatives, as well as incorporate effective performance management, continuous improvement and benchmarking arrangements.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The DIO has appointed 5 companies for the design and build of construction projects in the East Midlands and eastern England region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/34700"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=34700"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/34700\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=34700"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=34700"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=34700"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
