{"id":35244,"date":"2013-11-19T12:33:00","date_gmt":"2013-11-19T12:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=6ea79a1c8453a6bba445b228cca23c64"},"modified":"2013-11-19T12:33:00","modified_gmt":"2013-11-19T12:33:00","slug":"press-release-british-indian-ocean-territory-feasibility-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=35244","title":{"rendered":"Press release: British Indian Ocean Territory feasibility study"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Foreign Office Minister of State, Mark Simmonds, today announced the next stage in implementing the Government\u2019s commitment to a new feasibility study on resettlement of the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT).<\/p>\n<p>Following his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/speeches\/british-indian-ocean-territory-feasibility-study\">Written Ministerial Statement<\/a>, Mr Simmonds said: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We have made a constructive start to this important review of resettlement options with the publication of draft terms of reference.  We have consulted extensively, including with members of the Chagossian community, and are committed to continuing these consultations as the study develops.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Resettling these low-lying islands after all these years presents some very big challenges.  This study will look at the full range of options, with associated costs and risks.  We make no promises about the study\u2019s ultimate conclusions, which will inform Ministers\u2019 decisions.
