{"id":35513,"date":"2013-11-21T17:22:00","date_gmt":"2013-11-21T17:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=de4f4ed19afabdd45a52b8a6a88c1633"},"modified":"2013-11-21T17:22:00","modified_gmt":"2013-11-21T17:22:00","slug":"news-story-tourism-set-for-a-boost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=35513","title":{"rendered":"News story: Tourism set for a boost"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The tourism industry\u2019s potential to play a central role in creating new jobs across Britain revealed in Deloitte report. <\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Tourism: jobs and growth\u2019 report was commissioned by <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.visitbritain.org\/\">VisitBritain<\/a> and forecasts that: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the tourism economy will be worth around \u00a3127 billion this year (2013), equivalent to 9% of the UK\u2019s GDP<\/li>\n<li>the tourism industry supports over 3 million jobs, that\u2019s 9.6% of all UK jobs and 173,000 more than in 2010.<\/li>\n<li>the sector is predicted to grow at an annual rate of 3.8% through to 2025 &#8211; significantly faster than the overall UK economy (with a predicted annual rate of 3% per annum) and much faster than sectors such as manufacturing, construction and retail<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Commenting on the report and speaking at the launch, Minister for Tourism Helen Grant said: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We have showcased the best of Britain to the world in the last 3 years with some massive, memorable events, creating a huge boost for the tourism industry. More visitors are flying in and spending record amounts of cash and it\u2019s clear that the size of the prize going forward is big.
