{"id":35577,"date":"2013-11-22T14:31:23","date_gmt":"2013-11-22T14:31:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=bb9ff401e9cfc6f94f6601fdd3a125ac"},"modified":"2013-11-22T14:31:23","modified_gmt":"2013-11-22T14:31:23","slug":"news-story-double-win-for-dfid-at-civil-service-awards-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=35577","title":{"rendered":"News story: Double win for DFID at Civil Service Awards 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Civil Service Awards, now in their eighth year, highlight innovative projects within the civil service and spread best practice right across government. <abbr title=\"Department for International Development\">DFID<\/abbr> picked up two awards at last night\u2019s ceremony:<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"the-public-accounts-committee-pac-award-for-most-improved-government-body\">The Public Accounts Committee (<abbr title=\"Public Accounts Committee\">PAC<\/abbr>) Award for most improved government body<\/h3>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Public Accounts Committee\">PAC<\/abbr> presented Mark Lowcock with an award in recognition of their judgment that <abbr title=\"Department for International Development\">DFID<\/abbr> is the most improved government body on value for money and financial management.<\/p>\n<p>In presenting the award, Margaret Hodge, the Chair of the <abbr title=\"Public Accounts Committee\">PAC<\/abbr>, said that <abbr title=\"Department for International Development\">DFID<\/abbr> was an international leader in its field with a global reputation. The committee particularly praised the work <abbr title=\"Department for International Development\">DFID<\/abbr> has done on the Multilateral Aid Review.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the award, Mark said: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I am very grateful for the recognition this implies for the work of thousands of people across the whole of <abbr title=\"Department for International Development\">DFID<\/abbr>\u2019s global team who have dedicated themselves  over the last few years to getting fantastic value from every single penny of the taxpayer\u2019s money. We will spend a brief moment celebrating the progress we have made. And then tomorrow morning we will get up and get to work on all the other things we know we need to do to get better value \u2013 we are far from finished yet.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3 id=\"the-dame-lesley-strathie-award-for-operational-excellence\">The Dame Lesley Strathie Award for Operational Excellence<\/h3>\n<p>The Clean Team Project is a <abbr title=\"Department for International Development\">DFID<\/abbr> collaboration with Unilever, Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor and the design innovation firm IDEO, launched in April 2012. <\/p>\n<p>Nearly 1 billion people in urban areas today don\u2019t have access to adequate sanitation.
