It was right to continue investment to the end of the decade. Asked whether lessons would be taken from the recent storms, the <abbr title=\"Prime Minister\u2019s Spokesperson\">PMS<\/abbr> said that it was always important to look at what lessons could be learned.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"spending\">Spending<\/h2>\n<p>Asked about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/speeches\/new-year-economy-speech-by-the-chancellor-of-the-exchequer\">Chancellor\u2019s speech on welfare spending<\/a>, the <abbr title=\"Prime Minister\u2019s Spokesperson\">PMS<\/abbr> said that government departmental settlements had been set out to 2015 to 2016 and anything beyond that was for future decisions. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"ww1\"><abbr title=\"World War One\">WW1<\/abbr><\/h2>\n<p>Asked for the Prime Minister\u2019s (<abbr title=\"Prime Minister\">PM<\/abbr>\u2019s) view on <abbr title=\"World War One\">WW1<\/abbr> commemoration, the <abbr title=\"Prime Minister\u2019s Spokesperson\">PMS<\/abbr> said the <abbr title=\"Prime Minister\">PM<\/abbr> thought it was an opportunity to commemorate the fallen, learn about the impact the conflict had on the country and reflect on the achievement of peace in Europe after the world wars.
