{"id":38165,"date":"2014-01-27T00:16:00","date_gmt":"2014-01-27T00:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=e3e14f863245c6f4dfc0c548d185ba0a"},"modified":"2014-01-27T00:16:00","modified_gmt":"2014-01-27T00:16:00","slug":"news-story-supporting-business-david-cameron-announces-new-plans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=38165","title":{"rendered":"News story: Supporting business: David Cameron announces new plans"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>In a speech to the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fsb.org.uk\/\">Federation of Small Businesses,<\/a> the Prime Minister will tell the audience that the government has exceeded its target to identify 3,000 regulations to be amended or scrapped. <\/p>\n<p>This is the first government in modern history to reduce overall domestic regulation for business while in office. 800 regulations have already been abolished or simplified \u2013 with tens of thousands of pages of red tape still to face the chop. <\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NvY4mAWM-Po\">David Cameron: my message to Britain\u2019s small businesses<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p>Find out what else the government is doing to support and grow the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/topics\/uk-economy\">UK economy<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Prime Minister will announce plans to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>make it vastly easier and cheaper for businesses to meet environmental obligations  &#8211;  by March 2015 Defra will have slashed 80,000 pages of environmental guidance saving businesses around \u00a3100 million per year<\/li>\n<li>help house builders by cutting down 100 overlapping and confusing standards applied to new homes to less than 10 &#8211; these reforms are estimated to save around \u00a360 million per year for home builders, equivalent to around \u00a3500 for every new home built<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p>Find inspiration and tips to help you grow your business from <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.greatbusiness.gov.uk\/\">Business is GREAT.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>David Cameron is expected to say:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Supporting business is a crucial part of our long term economic plan, creating jobs and security for all. That is why, among so many other things, I have insisted on slashing needless regulation. We will be the first government in modern history to have reduced \u2013  rather than increased \u2013 domestic business regulation during our time in office.<\/p>\n<p>This will make it easier for you to grow, to create jobs and to help give this country the long-term security we are working towards. More than 1.3 million new jobs have been created since I came to office \u2013 many of them by small businesses. And I know many of you want to grow further \u2013 or may be thinking of employing your first person &#8211; but have been put off or held back by red tape.<\/p>\n<p>So we have trawled through thousands of pieces of regulation \u2013 from the serious to the ridiculous, and we will be scrapping or amending over 3,000 regulations \u2013 saving business well over \u00a3850 million every single year. That\u2019s half a million pounds which will be saved for businesses every single day of the year.<\/p>\n<p>I know that while we struggle to bring down domestic regulation, you fear an ever-greater pile of EU-inspired bureaucracy. That\u2019s why I\u2019ve led the fight in Europe to bring an end to this, and continue to press the Commission to implement the 30 recommendations from my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/cut-eu-red-tape-report-from-the-business-taskforce\">Business Taskforce<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This government has already stopped needless health and safety inspections. And we will scrap over-zealous rules which dictate how to use a ladder at work or what no-smoking signs must look like. We\u2019ve changed the law so that businesses are no longer automatically liable for an accident that isn\u2019t their fault. And the new <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.parliament.uk\/business\/committees\/committees-a-z\/joint-select\/draft-deregulation-bill\/\">Deregulation Bill<\/a> will exempt 1 million self-employed people from health and safety law altogether.<\/p>\n<p>Let me just give you a few more crazy examples dreamt up in the past by Whitehall bureaucrats. Employees used to be able to sue their employer if they were insulted by a customer. We\u2019ve changed the Equality Act to stop that. Shopkeepers used to need a poison licence to sell oven cleaner \u2013 we\u2019re scrapping that. And today I can announce that we will also:<\/p>\n<p>Make it vastly easier and cheaper for businesses to meet environmental obligations  \u2013 by March 2015 Defra will have slashed 80,000 pages of environmental guidance saving businesses around \u00a3100 million per year.<\/p>\n<p>Help house builders by cutting down 100 overlapping and confusing standards applied to new homes to less than 10. These reforms are estimated to save around \u00a360 million per year for home builders \u2013 equivalent to around \u00a3500 for every new home built.<\/p>\n<p>And as of earlier this month we have scrapped the ridiculous rule that childminders who give food to children have to register as a food business as well as a childminder.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Make no mistake, this government will support you when you need us.
