This compared with only 1 in 17 late filers (6%) in the South West of England \u2013 the most punctual region for tax returns.<\/p>\n<p>You can file your tax return for free via <abbr title=\"HM Revenue and Customs\">HMRC<\/abbr>\u2019s website at <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hmrc.gov.uk\">www.hmrc.gov.uk<\/a>. Using a search engine to find <abbr title=\"HM Revenue and Customs\">HMRC<\/abbr>\u2019s online filing web pages can produce results which include third party websites that charge to file on your behalf. Therefore, if you want to file for free, type the <abbr title=\"HM Revenue and Customs\">HMRC<\/abbr> website address into your internet browser.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"HM Revenue and Customs\">HMRC<\/abbr>\u2019s Director General of Personal Tax, Ruth Owen, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">There\u2019s not much time left, so make a start on your tax return today.
