{"id":38507,"date":"2014-02-01T22:52:00","date_gmt":"2014-02-01T22:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=ad1b7fb1f34b7089ab894f7706ba2322"},"modified":"2014-02-01T22:52:00","modified_gmt":"2014-02-01T22:52:00","slug":"press-release-search-for-swimmer-in-barry-harbour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=38507","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Search for swimmer in Barry Harbour"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>A search has been carried out tonight for a swimmer last seen in Barry Harbour just before 8.30pm (1 February 2014).<\/p>\n<p>Swansea Coastguard received a call from a concerned member of the public reporting the man entering the water, wearing flippers and a swimming cap.<\/p>\n<p>The Penarth and Barry Coastguard Rescue Teams were involved in the search, along with the <abbr title=\"Royal National Lifeboat Institution\">RNLI<\/abbr> Barry Dock all-weather lifeboat and the RAF search and rescue helicopter from <abbr title=\"Royal Marines Base\">RMB<\/abbr> Chivenor.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Matthews, Watch Manager at Swansea Coastguard, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We carried out a thorough search of the area tonight, but did not locate this swimmer. As this was in a sheltered area of the harbour, it could be that this man got out of the water safe and well.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, if anyone has any information about this swimmer, or you yourself went into the water at Old Harbour tonight, please give us a call on 01792 366534.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">As conditions are currently treacherous with gale force winds and high tides, we\u2019re urging people not to take risks.
