{"id":44029,"date":"2014-06-23T11:13:16","date_gmt":"2014-06-23T11:13:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=2cb6da3d2f62f34f5fadb44c48f04cbf"},"modified":"2014-06-23T11:13:16","modified_gmt":"2014-06-23T11:13:16","slug":"press-release-attorney-general-appoints-new-junior-treasury-counsel-crime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=44029","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Attorney General appoints new Junior Treasury Counsel (crime)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Attorney General, Dominic Grieve <abbr title=\"Queen's Counsel\">QC<\/abbr> MP, has appointed Jacob Hallam, Jocelyn Ledward and William Emlyn-Jones as Junior Treasury Counsel to the Crown at the Central Criminal Court from 1 July 2014. <\/p>\n<p>Deanna Heer is appointed Junior Treasury Counsel from 1 July 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Treasury Counsel prosecute some of the most serious criminal cases in the country. <\/p>\n<p>Mr Richard Whittam <abbr title=\"Queen's Counsel\">QC<\/abbr> is First Senior Treasury Counsel and heads the team of 10 Senior and 7 Junior Treasury Counsel. <\/p>\n<h3 id=\"notes\">Notes:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>The title \u201cTreasury Counsel\u201d derives from the days when all Crown counsel at the Central Criminal Court were instructed by the Treasury Solicitor. That procedure was changed in 1908, and since then the Director of Public Prosecutions has instructed the permanent counsel there.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Treasury Counsel are appointed by the Attorney General. They are divided into 2 groups: Senior Treasury Counsel and Junior Treasury Counsel.
