{"id":44180,"date":"2014-06-25T12:31:21","date_gmt":"2014-06-25T12:31:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=b5686bde1182d8b40eff743bc81d503f"},"modified":"2014-06-25T12:31:21","modified_gmt":"2014-06-25T12:31:21","slug":"news-story-making-it-easier-for-you-to-start-and-grow-a-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=44180","title":{"rendered":"News story: Making it easier for you to start and grow a business"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Following on from our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/government-crackdown-on-zero-hours-contract-abusers\">consultation into zero hours contracts<\/a>, we are announcing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a ban on the use of exclusivity clauses in all zero hours contracts; we will also consult further to prevent bad employers from circumventing the rules through simple avoidance techniques<\/li>\n<li>we will work with business representatives and unions to develop a code of practice on the fair use of zero hours contracts<\/li>\n<li>we will work with stakeholders to review existing guidance and improve information available to individuals and employers on using these contracts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"image embedded\">\n<div class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Zero Hours infographic\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.digital.cabinet-office.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/image_data\/file\/27806\/ZeroHoursMD1.jpg\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill is designed to reduce the barriers that can constrain the ability of small businesses to <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.greatbusiness.gov.uk\">innovate, grow and compete.<\/a> It paves the way for government to be more supportive of, and less burdensome to, small business in the UK.<\/p>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/small-business-enterprise-and-employment-bill\">See the series of publications relating to the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill <\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Bill covers a number of measures that include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>cutting down red tape, using new technologies to speed up banking processes<\/li>\n<li>increase support from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/uk-export-finance\">UK Export Finance<\/a> to help small businesses gain export footholds <\/li>\n<li>improvements in helping small firms with public procurement contracts &#8211; a market worth \u00a3230 billion<\/li>\n<li>a Pubs Code and adjudicator will be introduced and steps to ensure employers pay a fair wage under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/national-minimum-wage\">national minimum wage<\/a> agreements<\/li>\n<li>enhance the reputation of the UK as a trusted and fair place to do business by increasing transparency around who owns and controls UK companies<\/li>\n<li>helping deter and sanction those who hide their interest in UK companies to facilitate illegal activities or who otherwise fall short of expected standards of behaviour<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Bill is designed to give small businesses the freedom to become the driving force of our economy. We want to ensure they have the right environment to start-up, scale up and thrive.
