{"id":45600,"date":"2014-07-24T16:14:18","date_gmt":"2014-07-24T16:14:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=71cc7ad8a00b7de177f0703f2ef07c2d"},"modified":"2014-07-24T16:14:18","modified_gmt":"2014-07-24T16:14:18","slug":"news-story-new-advisory-group-to-support-initial-teacher-training-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=45600","title":{"rendered":"News story: New advisory group to support initial teacher training review"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>In May the former Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove, appointed Sir Andrew Carter <abbr title=\"Most Excellent Order of the British Empire\">OBE<\/abbr>, Headteacher of South Farnham School, leader of a school-centred initial teacher training (<abbr title=\"initial teacher training\">ITT<\/abbr>) provider and <abbr title=\"initial teacher training\">ITT<\/abbr> lead on the Teaching Schools Council, to chair an independent review of the quality and effectiveness of <abbr title=\"initial teacher training\">ITT<\/abbr> courses. <\/p>\n<p>The review will look across the full range of <abbr title=\"initial teacher training\">ITT<\/abbr> courses and will seek views from those involved across the sector to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>define effective <abbr title=\"initial teacher training\">ITT<\/abbr> practice<\/li>\n<li>assess the extent to which the current system delivers effective <abbr title=\"initial teacher training\">ITT<\/abbr> <\/li>\n<li>recommend where and how improvements could be made<\/li>\n<li>recommend ways to improve choice in the system by improving the transparency of course content and methods<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To support him in his work Sir Andrew Carter has appointed a review panel comprising a diverse range of expertise in June.
