{"id":45648,"date":"2014-07-25T14:00:33","date_gmt":"2014-07-25T14:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=d3b9ac1ea9fec12f98626142e3ef0a2a"},"modified":"2014-07-25T14:00:33","modified_gmt":"2014-07-25T14:00:33","slug":"news-story-five-treasuries-conference-concludes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=45648","title":{"rendered":"News story: \u2018Five Treasuries\u2019 conference concludes"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The first ever \u2018Five Treasuries\u2019 conference involving the heads of the Australian, Canadian, Irish, New Zealand and United Kingdom treasuries concluded earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>The Permanent Secretary to the Treasury, Sir Nicholas Macpherson, hosted the gathering in London and Oxfordshire over 21-23 July.<\/p>\n<p>It is the third time the leaders of the Australian, UK and New Zealand treasuries have held such a meeting, and this year for the first time they were also joined by their Irish and Canadian counterparts to form the \u2018Five Treasuries\u2019 grouping.<\/p>\n<p>The meetings were attended by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dr Martin Parkinson \u2013 Secretary to the Treasury, Australia<\/li>\n<li>Yaprak Baltac\u0131o\u011flu \u2013 Secretary to the Treasury Board, Canada,<\/li>\n<li>Paul Rochon \u2013 Deputy Minister of Finance, Canada<\/li>\n<li>John Moran \u2013 Secretary General, Department of Finance, Ireland<\/li>\n<li>Gabriel Makhlouf \u2013 Chief Executive and Secretary to the Treasury, New Zealand<\/li>\n<li>Sir Nicholas Macpherson \u2013 Permanent Secretary, HM Treasury, United Kingdom<\/li>\n<li>Sharon White \u2013 Second Permanent Secretary (Finance), HM Treasury, United Kingdom<\/li>\n<li>John Kingman \u2013 Second Permanent Secretary (Economic), HM Treasury, United Kingdom<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It was the first time the UK has hosted this gathering and the attendees spent the main part of the conference, 22-23 July, at Ditchley Park, Oxfordshire where they had briefings and discussions on a range of economic and financial issues, including the global macroeconomic environment, spending and taxation, financial regulation, growth and infrastructure, as well as the role of treasuries.
