The event in Cardiff on 8 October 2014 allows both the Ministry of Defence (<abbr title=\"Ministry of Defence\">MOD<\/abbr>) and industry to connect and explore the key challenges, programmes and future opportunities that exist within the defence acquisition supply chain. <\/p>\n<p>For industry, <abbr title=\"Defence Procurement, Research, Technology &amp; Exportability\">DPRTE<\/abbr> 2014 will provide an opportunity to gain access to defence procurement buyers, including <abbr title=\"Defence Science and Technology Laboratory\">Dstl<\/abbr>. <abbr title=\"Defence Science and Technology Laboratory\">Dstl<\/abbr> delivers the <abbr title=\"Ministry of Defence\">MOD<\/abbr>\u2019s Science and Technology (<abbr title=\"Science and Technology\">S&amp;T<\/abbr>) programme, as well as exploiting the knowledge gained for wider <abbr title=\"Ministry of Defence\">MOD<\/abbr> and other government departments\u2019 use in operations, policy and procurement. Around 60 per cent of the \u00a3400 million <abbr title=\"Ministry of Defence\">MOD<\/abbr> <abbr title=\"Science and Technology\">S&amp;T<\/abbr> programme is delivered externally to <abbr title=\"Defence Science and Technology Laboratory\">Dstl<\/abbr> by around 900 suppliers. Over the next few years, <abbr title=\"Defence Science and Technology Laboratory\">Dstl<\/abbr> will place an even greater percentage externally, representing a significant opportunity for suppliers.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"Defence Science and Technology Laboratory\">Dstl<\/abbr> will have a stand in <abbr title=\"Defence Procurement, Research, Technology &amp; Exportability\">DPRTE<\/abbr>\u2019s Research and Technology zone, where visitors will be able to meet senior executives and find out how to work with <abbr title=\"Defence Science and Technology Laboratory\">Dstl<\/abbr>.
