{"id":46839,"date":"2014-08-27T23:15:39","date_gmt":"2014-08-27T23:15:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=79f63fa88e196ba2ed2446b40b0cb2f3"},"modified":"2014-08-27T23:15:39","modified_gmt":"2014-08-27T23:15:39","slug":"press-release-wales-office-minister-visits-portmeirion-and-plas-newydd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=46839","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Wales Office Minister visits Portmeirion and Plas Newydd"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Wales Office Minister Baroness Randerson will today (28 August) visit Portmeirion, the beautifully-crafted Italianate village and hotel in Porthmadog.  <\/p>\n<p>The village attracts visitors from across the globe &#8211; more than 200,000 in 2013 &#8211; and has a cult following from its role as the setting for television series The Prisoner.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"robin-llywelyn-managing-director-portmeirion-said\">Robin Llywelyn, Managing Director, Portmeirion said:<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Snowdonia is very much on the agenda of the overseas visitor to Wales and we hope that Portmeirion plays a part in attracting these tourists to North Wales.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Minister will then visit the majestic Plas Newydd on the Menai Straits to tour the house and see its revolutionary marine source heat pump.  <\/p>\n<p>The innovative system pumps a small amount of sea water from the Menai Straits through pipes from a heat exchanger, up 30 metres of cliff face into the mansion\u2019s boiler house. The system, installed earlier this year, will save the property around \u00a340,000 a year in heating bills.  <\/p>\n<h3 id=\"nerys-jones-general-manager-of-plas-newydd-said\">Nerys Jones, General Manager of Plas Newydd, said:<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The Plas Newydd marine source heat pump is a pioneering example of using sustainable energy and we\u2019re now very keen to share what we\u2019ve learned with others.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure class=\"image embedded\">\n<div class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Plas Newydd \" src=\"https:\/\/assets.digital.cabinet-office.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/image_data\/file\/30037\/Plas_Newydd_landscape.jpg\"><\/div><figcaption>Plas Newydd<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3 id=\"baroness-randerson-said\">Baroness Randerson said:<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Plas Newydd and Portmeirion are leaders in their fields and offer tourists a glimpse of something very special in the areas of architecture and science. They both draw visitors to this splendid area of Wales.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We need to encourage those visiting Wales for the NATO Summit to take the opportunity to explore all we have to offer.
