{"id":47111,"date":"2014-09-04T10:21:00","date_gmt":"2014-09-04T10:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=667d607ecac027dfe9287a850bc8d01b"},"modified":"2014-09-04T10:21:00","modified_gmt":"2014-09-04T10:21:00","slug":"press-release-north-shields-fish-quay-restoration-nominated-for-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=47111","title":{"rendered":"Press release: North Shields fish quay restoration nominated for award"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Redevelopment of the fish quay at North Shields is one of four projects shortlisted for the Royal Town Planning Institute\u2019s (<abbr title=\"Royal Town Planning Institute\">RTPI<\/abbr>\u2019s) Planning Excellence Awards.<\/p>\n<p>Modernisation of the Western Quay at North Shields is one of the largest projects funded through the <abbr title=\"European Fisheries Fund\">EFF<\/abbr> in England, with the scheme contributing \u00a32 million towards the \u00a36 million development. <\/p>\n<p>Work included completely refurbishing the existing 125-year-old quay, which had been in a state of decline for 50 years.<br \/>\nIt was completed in October 2010 and created a berthing facility of 275 metres for up to 40 fishing boats and also provided easy access to services such as fuel and ice.
