{"id":47711,"date":"2014-09-18T07:56:00","date_gmt":"2014-09-18T07:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=9d4261afc5c95c6f473d332fb64acc3d"},"modified":"2014-09-18T07:56:00","modified_gmt":"2014-09-18T07:56:00","slug":"news-story-new-charges-for-marine-licence-administration-and-monitoring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=47711","title":{"rendered":"News story: Marine licence post consent administration and monitoring charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The charges, which come into effect from 1 October 2014, relate to requests to change a marine licence once it has been granted (licence variations), and also to monitor activities being carried out under the licence (post consent work).<\/p>\n<p>From 1 October licence holders will be charged a fee if they require any of these services, even if the licence was issued before these powers came into force.<\/p>\n<p>The move seeks to recover costs from industry incurred by the <abbr title=\"Marine Management Organisation\">MMO<\/abbr> when carrying out the work. It is estimated it will save the Government, and the taxpayer, around \u00a35m over 10 years.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/marine-licensing-fees\/costs-for-licence-variations-and-post-consent-monitoring-work\">A table of fees and further information have been published on the <abbr title=\"Marine Management Organisation\">MMO<\/abbr> website<\/a> in advance of the changes. Fees are based on the <abbr title=\"Marine Management Organisation\">MMO<\/abbr>\u2019s hourly rate (\u00a394) with maximum fees for less complex licence variations.<\/p>\n<p>The changes are being introduced under <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.legislation.gov.uk\/ukpga\/2011\/24\/contents\">section 4 of the Public Bodies Act 2011<\/a>, follow a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/consultations\/marine-licensing-applications-charges-for-monitoring-and-licences\">public consultation<\/a> and impact assessment by <abbr title=\"Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs\">Defra<\/abbr> and approval by the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.publications.parliament.uk\/pa\/cm201415\/cmgeneral\/deleg1\/140902\/140902s01.htm\">First Delegated Legislation Committee<\/a> in the House of Commons.<\/p>\n<p>Amongst other things, you may need a marine licence to construct works or deposit or remove any substance or item on\/from the seabed.
