{"id":47756,"date":"2014-09-19T08:49:13","date_gmt":"2014-09-19T08:49:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=b1b8f3a681e15439e981cd0c6d035cef"},"modified":"2014-09-19T08:49:13","modified_gmt":"2014-09-19T08:49:13","slug":"press-release-new-report-on-state-of-careers-advice-welcomed-by-ukces","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=47756","title":{"rendered":"Press release: New report on state of careers advice welcomed by UKCES"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The UK Commission for Employment and Skills (<abbr title=\"UK Commission for Employment and Skills\">UKCES<\/abbr>) has welcomed a new publication from the National Careers Council examining careers advice for young people in England.<\/p>\n<p>The report, Taking action: Achieving a culture change in careers provision, is based on research from a range of different organisations including <abbr title=\"Confederation of British Industry\">CBI<\/abbr>, <abbr title=\"Institute of Public Policy Research\">IPPR<\/abbr> and the British Youth Council.<\/p>\n<p>The report highlights that the majority of careers guidance offered is aimed at adults rather than young people, and calls for more to be done to address the balance.<\/p>\n<p>The report was supported by Nestl\u00e9, whose chief executive, Fiona Kendrick, a commissioner for <abbr title=\"UK Commission for Employment and Skills\">UKCES<\/abbr> said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<abbr title=\"UK Commission for Employment and Skills\">UKCES<\/abbr> research shows almost half (48%) of UK employers have staff who are not making full use of their skills.
