{"id":48319,"date":"2014-10-03T09:20:49","date_gmt":"2014-10-03T09:20:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=78a7fba48bb55344adf44fec48452e1d"},"modified":"2014-10-03T09:20:49","modified_gmt":"2014-10-03T09:20:49","slug":"press-release-review-of-standards-for-teaching-assistants-launched-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=48319","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Review of standards for teaching assistants launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The review will aim to replace the current set of standards with a clearer and more concise version which reflects the diversity of the existing schools system.<\/p>\n<p>The review panel will aim to draw up standards which:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>are unequivocal, clear and easy to understand<\/li>\n<li>can be used to assess the performance of teaching assistants<\/li>\n<li>steer the professional development of teaching assistants at all levels<\/li>\n<li>are designed to inspire confidence in teaching assistants and ensure that schools use their skills and expertise to best effect<\/li>\n<li>focus primarily on the key elements of their professional relationship with teachers to ensure that all pupils attain the highest possible standards <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Kate Dethridge, Principal of Churchend Primary Academy, Reading, has been appointed to chair the review. She will be supported by a panel of experts with a diverse range of expertise.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Dethridge is a serving member of the Department for Education\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/groups\/bureaucracy-reference-group\">Bureaucracy Reference Group<\/a>, and a national leader of education.<\/p>\n<p>Schools Minister David Laws said: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Good teaching assistants are essential to driving up standards in the classroom and helping students fulfil their full potential.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Kate Dethridge and the expert panel supporting her will bring a wealth of experience to this review, which will help to ensure the continuing improvement of school standards under this government.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kate Dethridge added:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I welcome this opportunity to work with colleagues to write a set of standards to raise the status and professionalism of teaching assistants across our schools.
