{"id":48640,"date":"2014-10-13T11:28:37","date_gmt":"2014-10-13T11:28:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=4ef982a4fbd706335b81fa3d13d1bda8"},"modified":"2014-10-13T11:28:37","modified_gmt":"2014-10-13T11:28:37","slug":"press-release-uk-norway-electricity-interconnection-moves-closer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=48640","title":{"rendered":"Press release: UK-Norway electricity interconnection moves closer"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Norwegian Government has today granted a <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.regjeringen.no\/en\/dep\/oed\/press-center\/press-releases\/2014\/License-granted-for-electricity-interconnectors-to-Germany-and-the-UK.html?id=771235\">licence<\/a> for the longest sub-sea electricity interconnector in the world, to be built between the UK and Norway . The interconnector, known as NSN, will connect our countries\u2019 electricity systems providing significant mutual benefits, improving energy security and bringing Norwegian renewable energy to Europe. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"energy-and-climate-change-secretary-ed-davey-said\">Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Davey said:<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThis is excellent news for both the UK and Norway. This new cable will allow the UK to import huge amounts of clean green hydroelectricity &#8211; enough to power up to 4 million homes &#8211; to back up our wind and solar power. This bolsters our energy security and will help keep consumers\u2019 bills down.
