This is the stark reality being exposed by The Sun\u2019s Get Kids Reading crusade. <\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, a whole host of charities \u2013 led by Save the Children \u2013 are taking action to help children fall in love with reading through the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.readongeton.org.uk\/\">Read On. Get On.<\/a> campaign. Their research says that just 10 minutes of reading a day makes a real difference.<\/p>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p>Visit <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.readongeton.org.uk\/\">Read On. Get On.<\/a> to find out what you can do to get every child in the UK reading well.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>My wife, Miriam and I have always tried to ensure one of us is there to read to our boys each night. Juggling busy lives and getting home in time to put your kids to bed is not easy. But good habits set in childhood stay with you. I still read at least a few pages of a book every night. <\/p>\n<p>Everyone can help kids read more. I will do everything I can as Deputy Prime Minister to get all kids reading well by 2025 and today I\u2019m getting involved by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/nick-clegg-visits-greenside-primary-school\">visiting a primary school in West London<\/a> to read a story to a class of 5- and 6-year-olds.
