{"id":49129,"date":"2014-10-23T09:24:54","date_gmt":"2014-10-23T09:24:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=69c416e4c232c9357b549e20c4c8dc40"},"modified":"2014-10-23T09:24:54","modified_gmt":"2014-10-23T09:24:54","slug":"news-story-new-action-taken-at-heart-of-england-to-improve-services-and-strengthen-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=49129","title":{"rendered":"News story: New action taken at Heart of England to improve services and strengthen leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The health sector regulator has imposed a further condition on Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust\u2019s (<abbr title=\"Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust\">HEFT<\/abbr>) licence enabling it to take further action if the trust\u2019s leadership does not perform better.<\/p>\n<p>Monitor is acting after <abbr title=\"Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust\">HEFT<\/abbr> failed to reduce long waiting times for <abbr title=\"accident and emergency department\">A&amp;E<\/abbr>, routine operations and cancer care patients, together with additional concerns regarding mortality rates.<\/p>\n<p>The regulator has decided that the range and seriousness of these issues demonstrate a clear failure in leadership and the trust\u2019s organisational systems.<\/p>\n<p>The trust and Monitor have also agreed new legally binding enforcement undertakings aimed at improving these care services on a sustainable basis.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust\">HEFT<\/abbr> provides services across the West Midlands at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital, Solihull Hospital and Community Services at the Birmingham Chest Clinic.<\/p>\n<p>Monitor first found <abbr title=\"Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust\">HEFT<\/abbr> in suspected breach of its licence to provide healthcare in December 2013, after it failed to meet national targets at 2 of its hospitals, for treating patients in <abbr title=\"accident and emergency department\">A&amp;E<\/abbr> within 4 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Cayley, Regional Director at Monitor, said: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We want all patients of this trust to receive quality and timely care, which means all parts of the organisation must operate effectively.<\/p>\n<p>This action should ensure that the trust\u2019s leadership takes appropriate and swift action to address our concerns around how it is led and run.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We will continue to monitor the trust rigorously and take further regulatory action if we consider it necessary.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Monitor is taking action to improve services and strengthen the leadership of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust, so that patients receive better care.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/49129"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=49129"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/49129\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=49129"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=49129"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=49129"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
