{"id":49747,"date":"2014-11-05T14:58:00","date_gmt":"2014-11-05T14:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=ffa030f1c1953a7e31476609c3c233ce"},"modified":"2014-11-05T14:58:00","modified_gmt":"2014-11-05T14:58:00","slug":"news-story-hmrc-announces-scale-of-enquiries-into-big-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=49747","title":{"rendered":"News story: HMRC announces scale of enquiries into big business"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Jennie Granger, Director General of Enforcement and Compliance at <abbr title=\"HM Revenue and Customs\">HMRC<\/abbr>, told an <abbr title=\"HM Revenue and Customs\">HMRC<\/abbr> stakeholder conference that most of the enquiries cover multiple issues. <\/p>\n<p>Granger said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are enquiring into two out of three of the largest corporations operating in the UK \u2013 many of which are multinationals. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is not to say that most large businesses are on the make. But it does highlight both the complexity of the international tax system in which they operate and our need to be very actively scrutinising how they negotiate their way through that system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"HM Revenue and Customs\">HMRC<\/abbr>\u2019s large business strategy has generated \u00a331 billion in additional revenue over the last four years.
