The event aimed to promote the lucrative export opportunities currently available in the dynamic markets of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Brazil<\/li>\n<li>Chile<\/li>\n<li>Colombia<\/li>\n<li>Mexico<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Delegates heard from companies that have successfully made the leap to Latin America, and UKTI demonstrated how it can support businesses with their overseas trade plans.<\/p>\n<p>Trade Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/ministers\/minister-of-state-for-trade-and-investment\">Lord Livingston<\/a> said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">South West businesses are strong exporters, who grew their overseas sales by almost \u00a3400 million in the first 6 months of this year.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 id=\"success-in-latin-america\">Success in Latin America<\/h2>\n<p>Lord Livingston spoke about some of the export successes to have come out of the South West region, such as Poole-based Heatric, part of the Meggitt PLC Group. Heatric has recently won a \u00a380 million contract in Brazil. <\/p>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p>Read more about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/heatric-wins-80-million-contract-in-brazil-with-ukti-assistance\">Heatric\u2019s success in Brazil<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Russell Jones, UKTI South West Regional Director, said: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We\u2019re delighted that Lord Livingston has joined us during Export Week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">This event has proved to be an interactive and thought-provoking seminar, providing delegates with a sound understanding of each market and showing how businesses can successfully export to the exciting region of Latin America.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 id=\"mercado-libre\">Mercado Libre<\/h2>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mercadolibre.com\/\">Mercado Libre<\/a> is Latin America\u2019s leading e-commerce site. It\u2019s signed an agreement with UKTI which is part of UKTI\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/e-exporting\">e-exporting support programme<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement gives preferential terms to UK companies that are introduced via UKTI, with free commercial listings for the first 6 months. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"other-visits\">Other visits<\/h2>\n<p>Prior to the event the Minister held a roundtable discussion on exporting with: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership<\/li>\n<li>Dorset Chamber of Commerce<\/li>\n<li>local businesses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lord Livingston also visited Poole-based precision engineering specialist Field International Ltd, to discuss how UKTI can help <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/medium-sized-business\">Mid-Sized Businesses<\/a>. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"contact\">Contact<\/h2>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p>Want to find out how UKTI can help you?
