{"id":51064,"date":"2014-12-02T14:47:14","date_gmt":"2014-12-02T14:47:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=cf375b700a0f01631e75a279759f964b"},"modified":"2014-12-02T14:47:14","modified_gmt":"2014-12-02T14:47:14","slug":"news-story-development-of-uk-to-norway-electricity-cable-takes-step-forward","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=51064","title":{"rendered":"News story: Development of UK to Norway electricity cable takes step forward"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Norwegian government gave consent for the development in its waters in October 2014 with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/uk-norway-electricity-interconnection-moves-closer\">the Secretary of State for Climate Change, Ed Davey, commenting on its significance.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cable will be the first of its kind between the two countries and will enable the cross-border trading of electricity. Power may flow through the cable in either direction at different times, depending on the supply and demand in each country. <\/p>\n<p>The cable will run from Hylen, in southwest Norway, to the Northumberland coast and a converter station in Blyth.
