{"id":51256,"date":"2014-12-07T21:46:12","date_gmt":"2014-12-07T21:46:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=25f6ee915e7dba5f033c80d477cf0873"},"modified":"2014-12-07T21:46:12","modified_gmt":"2014-12-07T21:46:12","slug":"news-story-eu-consultation-of-rohs-exemptions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=51256","title":{"rendered":"News story: EU consultation of RoHS exemptions"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The European Commission is currently undertaking a <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/environment\/consultations\/rohs6_en.htm\">consultation exercise<\/a> relating to three exemptions associated with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/rohs-compliance-and-guidance\">RoHS Directive<\/a>, which is enforced by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/nmo\/enforcement\">National Measurement Office<\/a> (NMO) in the <abbr title=\"United Kingdom\">UK<\/abbr>. The exemption requests are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>17a \u201clead in glass of electronic components and fluorescent tubes, or in electronic ceramic parts (including dielectric ceramic capacitors) used in industrial monitoring &amp; control instruments (only sub-category 9 industrial)\u201d, exemption to expire in 2024<\/li>\n<li>18a \u201clead used in compliant pin connector systems for use in industrial monitoring and control instruments (only sub-category 9 industrial)\u201d, exemption to expire in 2024<\/li>\n<li>20a \u201cmercury in cold cathode fluorescent lamps (<abbr title=\"cold cathode fluorescent lamps\">CCFL<\/abbr>) for back-lighting liquid crystal displays not exceeding 5 mg per lamp used in industrial monitoring and control instruments (only sub-category 9 industrial)\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The three requests were part of a previous project.
