{"id":51447,"date":"2014-12-10T17:55:58","date_gmt":"2014-12-10T17:55:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=2cb82120b67f5408440302413eb0c83d"},"modified":"2014-12-10T17:55:58","modified_gmt":"2014-12-10T17:55:58","slug":"press-release-wales-bill-completes-parliamentary-stages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=51447","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Wales Bill completes Parliamentary stages"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Wales Bill today (11 November) cleared its final parliamentary stages in the House of Commons and is expected to get Royal Assent before the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Welsh Secretary Stephen Crabb said that this marked a significant step forward on the path to giving Wales a strong and lasting devolution settlement.<\/p>\n<p>The Bill will devolve a range of tax and borrowing powers to Wales including landfill tax, stamp duty, land tax and &#8211; subject to a referendum &#8211; some income tax.<\/p>\n<p>The House of Commons considered and approved the Lords amendments, relating to removing the so-called lockstep mechanism from the Bill\u2019s income tax powers and giving the power to the Welsh Assembly to decide whether 16 and 17 year-olds should have the right to vote in the income tax referendum.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"stephen-crabb-said\">Stephen Crabb said:<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Today we have taken a significant step forward on the path towards a lasting devolution settlement for Wales &#8211; making the Assembly more accountable and providing Welsh Government with the tools necessary to grow the Welsh economy.<\/p>\n<p>This Government has a strong track record on devolution and by St David\u2019s Day 2015 I will set out how we will move forward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The constitution is important to Wales but I am determined to end the tiring debate about powers and let the Assembly and Welsh Government get on with growing the economy and improving public services.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Mr Crabb set out his vision for devolution in Wales last month in a <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/1vFHY8i\">speech<\/a> to the Institute of Welsh Affairs. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Stephen Crabb: &quot;a significant step forward on the path towards a lasting devolution settlement&quot;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/51447"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=51447"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/51447\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=51447"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=51447"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=51447"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
