{"id":51516,"date":"2014-12-11T16:33:04","date_gmt":"2014-12-11T16:33:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=7797ee9e666252a10c658dcae9318312"},"modified":"2014-12-11T16:33:04","modified_gmt":"2014-12-11T16:33:04","slug":"press-release-hs2-signs-construction-pledge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=51516","title":{"rendered":"Press release: HS2 signs construction pledge"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>HS2 will today (11th December) sign up to the Construction and civil engineering industries pledge and five other pledges from the Department of Health\u2019s Public Responsibility Deal, as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the health, safety and well being of its employees.<\/p>\n<p>The six pledges cover a range of areas including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A health and well being strategy for staff and contractors as the project moves towards construction;<\/li>\n<li>Use of accredited occupational health providers;<\/li>\n<li>Implementing regular staff health checks ;<\/li>\n<li>Procedures to support staff with chronic conditions;<\/li>\n<li>A programme of activities relating to mental health and well being;<\/li>\n<li>Facilities for cyclists and runners;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Through signing up to these pledges HS2 aims to break new ground to establish innovative, world-class ways of working that set the standard for the rest of the industry, by committing to the promotion of health in construction and setting challenging performance standards for its supply chain.<\/p>\n<p>HS2 Chief Executive, Simon Kirby said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThoughtful and inclusive management of our employees\u2019 health, safety and well being can bring real benefits including better staff engagement, improved productivity and reduced staff turnover.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe pledges we are making today are for all members of our staff and our supply chain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough signing the Responsibility Deal, we recognize the importance the workplace plays in maintaining the mental and physical well-being of our staff.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dame Carol Black, Chair of the Responsibility Deal health at work network, added:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the past year, the Public Health Responsibility Deal has been engaging in a sector-specific way.
