Mr Jonathan Wilks CMG has been appointed Her Majesty\u2019s Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman in succession to Mr Jamie Bowden, who has taken up an appointment as Deputy Private Secretary to the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. Mr Wilks will take up his appointment during December 2014.<\/p>\n

Mr Wilks joined the FCO in 1989 and has held 2 previous Ambassadorial level postings: from 2012-2014 as UK Special Representative for Syria and 2010-2011 as Her Majesty\u2019s Ambassador to Yemen.<\/p>\n

On his appointment as Her Majesty\u2019s Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, Mr Wilks has said:<\/p>\n

I am delighted to take up this post. I have visited Oman many times in the past 20 years. It is a country I know and love, though this is the first time I have worked at the Embassy. It is an honour to have the opportunity to build on our historic relationship and to ensure that the UK remains a loyal ally and trusted friend of Oman.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
