{"id":51693,"date":"2014-12-16T14:05:00","date_gmt":"2014-12-16T14:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=1b10bb53c636eb79aa7a026e8cbd18e6"},"modified":"2014-12-16T14:05:00","modified_gmt":"2014-12-16T14:05:00","slug":"news-story-24-projects-to-improve-air-quality-to-receive-1-million-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=51693","title":{"rendered":"News story: 24 projects to improve air quality to receive \u00a31 million fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>A \u00a31 million fund has been awarded to 24 local authority projects designed to improve air quality in their area as part of this year\u2019s Air Quality Grant Programme.<\/p>\n<p>The Grant Programme for 2014\/15 has focused on supporting projects set up to tackle nitrogen dioxide levels and mitigate emissions from road transport.<\/p>\n<p>Successful projects include \u00a340,000 to upgrade cycle and pedestrian links across the A458 in Dudley; \u00a321,820 on cycling infrastructure in Cheshire; \u00a320,800 to promote electric vehicles in Bristol and \u00a331,000 to build a business case for gas buses in Leicester.  <\/p>\n<p>Environment Minister Dan Rogerson said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Air quality has improved significantly in recent decades and local authorities play a vital role \u2013 funding these great projects across the country will help them to continue this good work. I look forward to seeing how these projects will deliver real benefits for communities across England.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Other examples of projects receiving funding include \u00a350,000 to trial converting container stacking machines from diesel to natural gas in Southampton;
