{"id":51761,"date":"2014-12-17T14:17:29","date_gmt":"2014-12-17T14:17:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=1ed66eb0fb523fdb368f29ece8457f62"},"modified":"2014-12-17T14:17:29","modified_gmt":"2014-12-17T14:17:29","slug":"news-story-uk-praised-for-global-leadership-on-international-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=51761","title":{"rendered":"News story: UK praised for global leadership on international development"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development\u2019s (<abbr title=\"The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development\u2019s\">OECD<\/abbr>) Development Assistance Committee (<abbr title=\"Development Assistance Committee\">DAC<\/abbr>) has issued a <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oecd.org\/dac\/peer-reviews\/peer-review-unitedkingdom.htm\">report<\/a>  on the UK\u2019s development assistance as part of a regular series of reviews of <abbr title=\"The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development\u2019s\">OECD<\/abbr> <abbr title=\"Development Assistance Committee\">DAC<\/abbr> donor aid policies and programmes.<\/p>\n<p>The report notes that the UK is a global leader on international development and has taken a particular lead on driving international action on gender equality and minority rights. The UK is commended for meeting the 0.7% ODA target and for its focus on the world\u2019s poorest and most vulnerable people, many of whom are in fragile and conflict-affected states.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Development Assistance Committee\">DAC<\/abbr>\u2019s recommendations for the government include useful observations on how to ensure the effectiveness of the UK\u2019s approach to development.
