Part 1: Metrological and technical requirement\">R35<\/abbr>).<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The National Measurement Office (<abbr title=\"National Measurement Office\">NMO<\/abbr>), acting as the Secretariat for <abbr title=\"Material measures of length for general use. Part 1: Metrological and technical requirement\">R35<\/abbr> took the amendment through the International Organization of Legal Metrology (<abbr title=\"International Organization of Legal Metrology\">OIML<\/abbr>) Technical Committee (<abbr title=\"Technical Committee\">TC<\/abbr>) process which included voting by every <abbr title=\"International Organization of Legal Metrology\">OIML<\/abbr> member country.  The amendment gained a majority vote at the last International Committee of Legal Metrology  (<abbr title=\"International Committee of Legal Metrology\">CIML<\/abbr>) meeting and so has now been issued.  This amendment was requested by the European Tool Committee (<abbr title=\"European Tool Committee\">CEO<\/abbr>) and <abbr title=\"National Measurement Office\">NMO<\/abbr> worked closely with them throughout this process.  Gary Beadon, Fisco\u2019s Managing Director said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The amendment to <abbr title=\"Material measures of length for general use. Part 1: Metrological and technical requirement\">R35<\/abbr> is vital for world markets in measuring tapes and rules which require an appropriate level of Class I precision combined with an appreciation of the effects of thermal expansion in varying climatic conditions worldwide. Prior to the amendment the prescribed Class I precision level of <abbr title=\"Material measures of length for general use.
