{"id":52838,"date":"2015-01-23T12:10:29","date_gmt":"2015-01-23T12:10:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=33f91edc7e1d241b30efdc7419d081c2"},"modified":"2015-01-23T12:10:29","modified_gmt":"2015-01-23T12:10:29","slug":"news-story-ernst-and-young-demonstrate-support-for-armed-forces","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=52838","title":{"rendered":"News story: Ernst and Young demonstrate support for Armed Forces"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Ernst and Young (<abbr title=\"Ernst and Young\">EY<\/abbr>) have become one of the largest companies to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and have pledged to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>support the employment of veterans and their families<\/li>\n<li>support employees who choose to become members of the Reserve Forces<\/li>\n<li>give special consideration to holiday requests from service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner\u2019s deployment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><abbr title=\"Ernst and Young\">EY<\/abbr> are the latest of over 300 companies to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant, pledging a range of support measures for the armed forces community.<\/p>\n<p>Minister for Reserves Julian Brazier said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>It is excellent to see one of the UK\u2019s largest professional services firms sign up to the Armed Forces Covenant, recognising the tremendous contribution that our armed forces and their families make to society, as well as the huge benefits that reservists and former service personnel can bring to the company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\"><abbr title=\"Ernst and Young\">EY<\/abbr> is working hard to ensure that all members of the armed forces community are fully supported in the workplace, and I hope many more companies will follow their lead.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>One of <abbr title=\"Ernst and Young\">EY<\/abbr>\u2019s health advisory consultants, Major Henry Dowlen, is currently on deployment as a Royal Marine reservist in Sierra Leone, serving at the National Ebola Response Centre.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/xVRt052BPdM?utm_source=govuk&amp;utm_medium=socialmedia&amp;utm_campaign=corporatecovenant&amp;utm_term=reservesierraleonecorporatecovenant&amp;utm_content=modreservistcorporatecovenant\">Major Henry Dowlen<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bjorn Conway is <abbr title=\"Ernst and Young\">EY<\/abbr>\u2019s Head of Government and Public Sector for UK and Ireland. He said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>At <abbr title=\"Ernst and Young\">EY<\/abbr> we are focused on finding top talent, regardless of background, and we recognise that many military personnel have a wealth of skills and leadership qualities that would be invaluable to our businesses.
