{"id":53136,"date":"2015-01-30T11:46:00","date_gmt":"2015-01-30T11:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=820c15e0999627a4e7509dacbb2f7364"},"modified":"2015-01-30T11:46:00","modified_gmt":"2015-01-30T11:46:00","slug":"press-release-50m-programme-brings-roads-boost-across-east-midlands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=53136","title":{"rendered":"Press release: \u00a350m programme brings roads boost across East Midlands"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The \u00a3317 million national \u201cpinch point\u201d programme will cut congestion, increase safety and improve journey times &#8211; and help support the creation of thousands of new jobs and homes across the East Midlands.<\/p>\n<p>The improvement plans \u2013 part of the biggest programme of road enhancements since the 1970s \u2013 were drawn up by the Highways Agency working with local councils and communities.<\/p>\n<p>The 121 schemes are distributed across England\u2019s major road network. There are 11 schemes in the East Midlands region totalling \u00a349.8 million. These include the A38 Markeaton and Little Eaton schemes in Derby, a lane widening scheme at the A5 Dodwells roundabout in Leicestershire and improvement work to the M1 junction 24 at the A50 approach. <\/p>\n<p>Tim Harbot, Highways Agency Divisional Director for the Midlands, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Since the launch of the Pinch Point Programme, we have been working in partnership with local authorities, Local Enterprise Partnerships and communities to deliver a roads programme which will make a real difference to our region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The schemes are already providing big returns by easing traffic flows and making journey times more reliable. Once completed, the programme will have long-term benefits in boosting prosperity and driving economic growth in the East Midlands.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The pinch point programme was launched in November 2011.
