{"id":53283,"date":"2015-02-03T13:14:41","date_gmt":"2015-02-03T13:14:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=80a32a42f39325ebd2e8181b13843bfa"},"modified":"2015-02-03T13:14:41","modified_gmt":"2015-02-03T13:14:41","slug":"news-story-chief-of-defence-materiel-role-extended-at-des","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=53283","title":{"rendered":"News story: Chief of Defence Materiel role extended at DE&amp;S"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Mr Gray has completed his 4-year appointment as head of the <abbr title=\"Ministry of Defence\">MOD<\/abbr>\u2019s acquisition and support organisation, and the Secretary of State has asked him to continue so that he can take forward the current phase of reform, assist in the Strategic Defence and Security Review (<abbr title=\"Strategic Defence and Security Review\">SDSR<\/abbr>) that will follow the general election, and enable a smooth transition to an incoming Chief Executive of Defence Equipment and Support (<abbr title=\"Defence Equipment and Support\">DE&amp;S<\/abbr>). <\/p>\n<p>Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I am delighted that Bernard has accepted our offer to stay with the <abbr title=\"Ministry of Defence\">MOD<\/abbr> for a further year to see through his work reforming Defence Equipment and Support.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">His expertise and experience will also be invaluable in helping to shape the next <abbr title=\"Strategic Defence and Security Review\">SDSR<\/abbr> expected later this year.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Chief of Defence Materiel Bernard Gray said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I am thrilled to be asked to stay on at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/defence-equipment-and-support\"><abbr title=\"Defence Equipment and Support\">DE&amp;S<\/abbr><\/a> for a further year. Leading this great team is a huge privilege and we are making real progress in turning our business into a world class acquisition and support organisation.<\/p>\n<p>This year we will see systematic changes that embed the improvements we have been working on for the last 4 years.<\/p>\n<p>We will continue working on delivering existing programmes, improving support to the armed forces, and helping the <abbr title=\"Ministry of Defence\">MOD<\/abbr> centre on the equipment aspects of the Defence Review, as well as driving Transformation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">It will be an exciting and busy year.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The process to appoint a chief executive to lead <abbr title=\"Defence Equipment and Support\">DE&amp;S<\/abbr> is nearing its conclusion.
