{"id":53382,"date":"2015-02-05T11:04:25","date_gmt":"2015-02-05T11:04:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=9a75c025f22bda644b1a5b7646e7b81b"},"modified":"2015-02-05T11:04:25","modified_gmt":"2015-02-05T11:04:25","slug":"news-story-easy-access-to-dstl-innovation-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=53382","title":{"rendered":"News story: Easy access to Dstl innovation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (<abbr title=\"Defence Science and Technology Laboratory\">Dstl<\/abbr>) is the first UK government organisation to sign up to the Easy Access intellectual property (<abbr title=\"intellectual property\">IP<\/abbr>) scheme.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme is aimed at promoting new ways of sharing <abbr title=\"intellectual property\">IP<\/abbr> and adopting new approaches to make it easier for <abbr title=\"Defence Science and Technology Laboratory\">Dstl<\/abbr> to work with other research organisations and industry, thus ensuring new technologies are made available to those best placed to exploit them.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"Defence Science and Technology Laboratory\">Dstl<\/abbr> is initially making 6 patent families available under the scheme, which range from protective garments to animal training aids. They are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/easy-access-ip-a-protective-garment-comprising-an-antenna\">A Protective Garment Comprising an Antenna<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/easy-access-ip-a-helmet-comprising-air-vents\">A Helmet Comprising Air Vents<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/easy-access-ip-a-rucksack-for-connecting-to-electrical-devices\">A Rucksack for Connecting to Electrical Devices<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/easy-access-ip-blunt-impact-head-injury-model\">Blunt impact head injury model<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/easy-access-ip-gamma-glutamyl-transpeptidase-ggt-attenuated-francisella\">Gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase attenuated Francisella<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/easy-access-ip-animal-training-system-and-method\">Animal training system and method<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Easy Access <abbr title=\"intellectual property\">IP<\/abbr> originated from Glasgow University, working with King\u2019s College London and the University of Bristol, which recognised that some <abbr title=\"intellectual property\">IP<\/abbr> can be difficult to commercialise through traditional ways, either because it\u2019s too early stage or presents some uncertainties for a company to risk investment. <\/p>\n<p>Easy Access <abbr title=\"intellectual property\">IP<\/abbr> addresses this by offering technologies free of upfront fees or royalties, using quick and simple agreements, to make it easy for companies to access the <abbr title=\"intellectual property\">IP<\/abbr> and put it to use.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Jon Cooper, Vice Principal for Knowledge Exchange and Innovation at the University of Glasgow said: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The Easy Access approach is a model for promoting the exploitation of Intellectual Property that was originally pioneered by the University of Glasgow, and we are therefore delighted that <abbr title=\"Defence Science and Technology Laboratory\">Dstl<\/abbr> is joining the growing number of research institutes that have chosen to adopt it.
