{"id":53407,"date":"2015-02-05T10:30:24","date_gmt":"2015-02-05T10:30:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=9837f9999f388e2b69029a4484762e0b"},"modified":"2015-02-05T10:30:24","modified_gmt":"2015-02-05T10:30:24","slug":"news-story-stand-off-detection-and-classification-of-chemicals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=53407","title":{"rendered":"News story: Stand-off detection and classification of chemicals"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>With <abbr title=\"Centre for Defence Enterprise\">CDE<\/abbr> funding, <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/amethyst-research.co.uk\/\">Amethyst Research Limited<\/a> has developed detector technology for stand-off chemical sensing.<\/p>\n<p>Amethyst Research is an <abbr title=\"Small and medium sized enterprise\">SME<\/abbr> established in the UK in 2013. <\/p>\n<p>It has developed a technologically disruptive, ultra-high performance infrared detector and assessed the manufacturing supply chain, exploiting the UK\u2019s semiconductor expertise.  <\/p>\n<p>The detector technology can be used for the stand-off detection and identification of chemicals via their Raman spectral fingerprints, and for high-resolution imaging applications, for defence and commercial uses. Such applications include seeing through smoke and fog as well as monitoring of pipeline integrity.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Executive Officer Terry Golding says:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\"><abbr title=\"Centre for Defence Enterprise\">CDE<\/abbr> funding has been critical to Amethyst being able to develop this critical technology, to stress test the UK manufacturing supply chain, and to transition to a commercial product.
