Mr Simon Martin has been appointed Her Majesty\u2019s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain in succession to Mr Iain Lindsay OBE, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Martin will take up his appointment during September 2015.<\/p>\n

Mr Martin joined the FCO in 1984 and served in London, Rangoon, Budapest and Prague in a number of policy and commercial roles. His most recent role was as Deputy Private Secretary to Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.<\/p>\n

On his appointment as Her Majesty\u2019s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mr Martin has said:<\/p>\n

I am delighted and honoured to be asked to represent the United Kingdom in Bahrain. Our two Kingdoms share a long and special history. I look forward to the celebration of the bicentenary of our relationship in 2016. We are strong partners in many fields. I also look forward to working closely with the Government of Bahrain to develop our relationship still further, in the interests of our two countries and peoples.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
