Local Government Secretary Eric Pickles has welcomed new guidance<\/a> urging house builders to avoid creating bin blight when designing new homes. <\/p>\n

The National House Building Council Foundation has called on architects and builders to reduce the visual impact of bins and waste facilities in new developments, as well as making solutions low maintenance and safe and convenient for families. <\/p>\n

These changes, encouraged by ministers, will now be incorporated into fresh statutory guidance set to be published next month (March 2015). <\/p>\n

Mr Pickles said:<\/p>\n

This government is committed to tackling the scourge of \u2018bin blight\u2019. Far too many of our streets are still dominated by the ugly clutter of unsightly bins, which ruin the look of families\u2019 homes and gardens.<\/p>\n

This common sense guide, backed up by revised planning rules and building regulations, will help ensure that the housing industry raises their game when building new homes.<\/p>\n

Families deserve a comprehensive waste and recycling service in return for the taxes they pay and as part of this they should not have to suffer bin blight in their local neighbourhood.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
