{"id":54315,"date":"2015-02-25T11:06:03","date_gmt":"2015-02-25T11:06:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=f1227bc0c95f1d517fe9057aeddf9beb"},"modified":"2015-02-25T11:06:03","modified_gmt":"2015-02-25T11:06:03","slug":"press-release-recycling-up-and-costs-down-under-new-regime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=54315","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Recycling up and costs down under new regime"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The amount of waste electrical and electronic equipment being recycled has increased under a new regulatory regime which has also delivered millions of pounds of savings to business.<\/p>\n<p>New Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (<abbr title=\"Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment\">WEEE<\/abbr>) regulations introduced in 2014 saw a 4% increase in collections compared to 2013 and estimated savings to producers of electrical equipment in excess of \u00a318 million.<\/p>\n<p>The new <abbr title=\"Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment\">WEEE<\/abbr> regulations implemented commitments under the environmental theme of the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.redtapechallenge.cabinetoffice.gov.uk\/home\/index\/\">Red Tape Challenge<\/a> to reduce producer compliance costs and transposed the requirements of the recast <abbr title=\"Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment\">WEEE<\/abbr> directive that included new collection targets imposed on member states.<\/p>\n<p>Business Minister Matthew Hancock said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I am committed to cutting red tape and freeing up business to create jobs and prosperity.
