{"id":54688,"date":"2015-03-04T14:28:16","date_gmt":"2015-03-04T14:28:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=ee6758e88779deae6cbd4e45ed9d96bb"},"modified":"2015-03-04T14:28:16","modified_gmt":"2015-03-04T14:28:16","slug":"news-story-connecting-innovators-the-knowledge-transfer-network","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=54688","title":{"rendered":"News story: Connecting innovators: the Knowledge Transfer Network"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>At a launch event for the Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) in Westminster speakers from government and business emphasised the importance of sharing knowledge and networking to keep the UK at the forefront of global innovation.<\/p>\n<p>Established by Innovate UK, KTN helps people and companies reach the full potential of their innovative capabilities by connecting them with each other.  Its members include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>large and small companies, <\/li>\n<li>government agencies and public funding bodies<\/li>\n<li>universities and research organisations <\/li>\n<li>tech hubs and start-ups <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"fifteen-to-one\">Fifteen to one<\/h2>\n<p>The launch event marked the creation of one unified KTN from 15 separate knowledge transfer networks. Chris Warkup CEO of KTN said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I\u2019ve seen a great deal invested in creating knowledge, but not a lot in sharing and connecting that knowledge to get the most out of it\u2026we\u2019re now giving innovation the support it needs to capture value in coming technological revolutions.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure class=\"image embedded\">\n<div class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Image of David Grant, CEO of Innovate UK speaking at the KTN launch\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.digital.cabinet-office.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/image_data\/file\/37070\/David_Grant_960_x_640.jpg\"><\/div><figcaption>David Grant, CEO of Innovate UK speaking at the KTN launch<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Speaking at the event David Grant, CEO of Innovate UK, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Innovate UK has invested over \u00a33 billion, through funding and other programmes that\u2019s created an economic impact of over \u00a310 billion and thousands of jobs. That wouldn\u2019t be possible without KTN. By bringing multiple networks together into one galvanised organisation, KTN will help create an even greater impact.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 id=\"salmon-with-chips\">Salmon with chips<\/h2>\n<p>KTN membership and support helped Stirling-based <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.landcatch.co.uk\">Landcatch Natural Selection<\/a> access funding, develop partnerships and continue to innovate.  In 2010 KTN support helped Landcatch win Genomes UK grant funding.
