{"id":54699,"date":"2015-03-04T14:35:16","date_gmt":"2015-03-04T14:35:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=a4f65781b6d554a8b9ce5ed737975edf"},"modified":"2015-03-04T14:35:16","modified_gmt":"2015-03-04T14:35:16","slug":"news-story-improvements-to-urban-training-on-salisbury-plain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=54699","title":{"rendered":"News story: Improvements to urban training on Salisbury Plain"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>These include the provision of alleyways, tunnels, compounds and high level walkways all of which will add considerable complexity and flexibility to training in one of the country\u2019s busiest individual training features. <\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Fighting in Built Areas\">FIBUA<\/abbr> village, constructed in 1987, is a purpose built facility to allow soldiers to practice fighting in an urban environment. Over the years it has seen a number of significant enhancements to meet the changing needs of the armed forces. <\/p>\n<p>In tandem with the alleyway project, a \u2018shoot house\u2019 is also being constructed to enable teams to practice their low-level urban skills, such as house clearance. They will use simulated ammunition. This allows for more realistic live training but without the need to provide large danger areas. <\/p>\n<p>Maj Alistair Rule, Training Safety Officer (Dry), Salisbury Plain Training Area, said: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>DIO is committed to enhancing the service it provides to the armed forces and this investment is a great example of how we are doing this.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The <abbr title=\"Fighting in Built Areas\">FIBUA<\/abbr> Village is an incredibly important and popular facility which is born out by the numbers who train there.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The cost of the alleyway project is \u00a3325,000 and the shoot house is \u00a3190,000.
