{"id":55033,"date":"2015-03-11T17:23:35","date_gmt":"2015-03-11T17:23:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=da9609bd8f318f62e4f02ca8fd22705a"},"modified":"2015-03-11T17:23:35","modified_gmt":"2015-03-11T17:23:35","slug":"news-story-english-road-safety-comparison-website-closes-on-27-march-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=55033","title":{"rendered":"News story: English road safety comparison website closes on 27 March 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Department for Transport has reviewed the \u2018English road safety comparison\u2019 website and found that equivalent information is now widely available online from several other sources.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was taken to shut the website now because of low site usage and because the information is readily available from other sources \u2013 meaning it provides low value for taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018English road safety comparison\u2019 website was launched in March 2013 to provide a detailed collision map, showing the precise location of the sites where injuries have occurred on the English road network.<\/p>\n<p>The website also provided comparative statistical data on accident rates for each local authority, alongside their expenditure and other demographic data that could impact upon local road safety.<\/p>\n<p>Since the launch of the website a number of similar collision maps have emerged on the market, including the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.crashmap.co.uk\/\">CrashMap<\/a> collision map.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018English road safety comparison\u2019 website receives around 1232 users per month.
