{"id":55352,"date":"2015-03-18T12:27:44","date_gmt":"2015-03-18T12:27:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=4f13a9c0eed3cd02b2359283963b3aba"},"modified":"2015-03-18T12:27:44","modified_gmt":"2015-03-18T12:27:44","slug":"news-story-international-growth-ambitions-highlighted-in-south-west","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=55352","title":{"rendered":"News story: International growth ambitions highlighted in south west"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>International trade support was high on the agenda during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/people\/dominic-jermey\">Dominic Jermey\u2019s<\/a> first visit to the south west region.<\/p>\n<p>Dominic Jermey started his visit by attending a roundtable discussion with representatives of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.businesswest.co.uk\/\">Business West<\/a> (<abbr title=\"UK Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr>\u2019s delivery partner in the south west)<\/li>\n<li>\n<a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.westofenglandlep.co.uk\/\">West of England Local Enterprise Partnership<\/a> (LEP)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dominic was hugely impressed by the innovation and ambition he saw during his visits to local businesses. <\/p>\n<p>Speaking after his visit he said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">British products and services have a strong appeal around the world, and the expertise of companies in the south west make a great contribution to the UK brand, showing why the UK is top in Europe for foreign direct investment.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 id=\"meeting-south-west-exporters\">Meeting south west exporters<\/h2>\n<p>Dominic Jermey said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>By working with companies like Thatchers and Beyond the Bean, we want to inspire other south west companies to grow their international customer base.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Expert advice and support on selling overseas is available UK Trade and Investment to all companies to start them on the path to exporting success.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3 id=\"thatchers-cider\">Thatchers Cider<\/h3>\n<p>Dominic visited <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thatchersgold.co.uk\/\">Thatchers Cider<\/a> in Sandford, where he was given a tour and heard about the company\u2019s export success. <\/p>\n<p>The company is now exporting across Europe, Australia and New Zealand after having taken part in various <abbr title=\"UK Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr> programmes and initiatives.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"beyond-the-bean\">Beyond the Bean<\/h3>\n<p>A visit to <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.beyondthebean.com\/\">Beyond the Bean<\/a> in Ashton Vale enabled <abbr title=\"UK Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr>\u2019s <abbr title=\"Chief Executive Officer\">CEO<\/abbr> to discuss the support that the coffee and drinks product specialist has received from <abbr title=\"UK Trade and Investment\">UKTI<\/abbr>. <\/p>\n<p>The company has secured business in over 40 countries, including the USA and Singapore over the last 10 years.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"inward-investment-into-south-west-region\">Inward investment into south west region<\/h2>\n<p>During his visit Dominic also met supercomputer developer and storage solutions specialist <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cray.com\/\">Cray<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Cray was recently awarded the contract to build The Met Office\u2019s new \u00a397 million supercomputer.
