{"id":55713,"date":"2015-03-24T13:01:38","date_gmt":"2015-03-24T13:01:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=d5f96fe76b0209eb118b9591c26f23c4"},"modified":"2015-03-24T13:01:38","modified_gmt":"2015-03-24T13:01:38","slug":"news-story-wave-energy-7-million-for-innovative-energy-conversion-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=55713","title":{"rendered":"News story: Wave energy: \u00a37 million for innovative energy conversion projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Businesses can now bid for a share of \u00a37 million from <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hi-energy.org.uk\/Renewables\/Wave-Energy.htm\">Wave Energy Scotland<\/a> (WES) as part of its long-term programme of support for commercialisation of the wave energy sector. <\/p>\n<p>With funding from the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gov.scot\/\">Scottish Government<\/a>, WES is seeking innovative proposals for research and development of secondary energy conversion technology \u2013 known as power take-off (PTO) systems.  <\/p>\n<p>Wave energy is a renewable energy resource with significant market potential. Globally, the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.iea.org\/\">International Energy Agency<\/a> has forecast that projects with a capacity of up to 130GW (gigawatt) could be in place by 2050, should the technology become cost-competitive with other forms of renewable energy. <\/p>\n<p>WES is part of <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hie.co.uk\/\">Highlands &amp; Islands Enterprise<\/a> (HIE) and takes an innovative approach to supporting the commercialisation of the wave energy sector, using <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/sbri.innovateuk.org\/\">SBRI<\/a>.
