It took place in London at techUK<\/a>, 9:30am to 4pm.<\/p>\n

Head of the Centre for Defence Enterprise, Andy Nicholson<\/a>, introduced CDE<\/abbr> and gave an overview of proof-of-concept research funding opportunities for innovative science and technology providers. View the presentation slides<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Defence\u2019s Chief Digital Information Officer, Mike Stone, launched a themed competition for fully funded contracts (up to \u00a3250,000 available for phase 1) on open-source big data insight<\/a>. View the presentation slides<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There is also a webinar for this competition on Friday 17 July 2015 1pm to 2pm online<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In addition, technical experts from Dstl<\/abbr> (the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory) gave an overview of some areas where innovative research ideas are sought for CDE<\/abbr>\u2019s ongoing enduring challenge competition<\/a>. Leo Borrett talked about big data science and technology challenges within the countering terrorist networks programme at Dstl<\/abbr><\/a>. View the presentation slides<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bruce Hardie, CDE<\/abbr>\u2019s Technology Manager, also talked about how to create an effective proposal for CDE<\/abbr> funding. View the presentation slides<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Attendees were able to pre-book a face-to-face meeting with CDE<\/abbr>, Dstl<\/abbr> and military experts to discuss potential proposals to either the enduring challenge competition or the \u2018open-source big data insight\u2019 themed competitions.<\/p>\n

There were opportunities to meet other potential bidders, current Dstl<\/abbr> suppliers, CDE<\/abbr>, Dstl<\/abbr> and military experts.<\/p>\n
