Housing and Planning Minister Brandon Lewis today (26 March 2015) announced that the Department for Communities and Local Government has entered into a joint venture with TerraQuest.<\/p>\n

A new company, PortalPlanQuest Limited has been set up to run the Planning Portal<\/a> as a joint venture between DCLG and TerraQuest.<\/p>\n

Mr Lewis said that the move would increase investment in the portal and ensure it continues to deliver a high quality service for years to come.<\/p>\n

Supporting growth<\/h2>\n

The Planning Portal is a one-stop shop for processing planning applications, with nearly 90% of applications in England and Wales now going through that system.<\/p>\n

The government announced earlier this year that TerraQuest was the preferred bidder to form a new company with the government to take on the management and delivery of the Planning Portal. This announcement followed a competitive tendering process.<\/p>\n

The current Planning Portal website<\/a> will remain in place while PortalPlanQuest develop their new service.<\/p>\n

Housing and Planning Minister Brandon Lewis said:<\/p>\n

I am excited that today we have formed a joint venture with TerraQuest to take over the running of the Planning Portal and build the business further.<\/p>\n

With nearly 90% of planning applications being submitted through the Planning Portal, it was vital to secure investment to allow the Portal to reach its full potential and continue to play a vital role in the planning system for years to come. I know that PortalPlanQuest will be looking to take an innovative approach, building an up-to-date website, and developing new products alongside the core planning application service. I\u2019m looking forward to seeing where they take the Portal in the future.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
