{"id":56142,"date":"2015-03-30T06:00:32","date_gmt":"2015-03-30T06:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=b9ec9b83a37e98330bccf4455bd8b16c"},"modified":"2015-03-30T06:00:32","modified_gmt":"2015-03-30T06:00:32","slug":"news-story-cma-grants-permission-for-electricity-distribution-network-price-controls-appeals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=56142","title":{"rendered":"News story: CMA grants permission for electricity distribution network price controls appeals"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Competition and Markets Authority (<abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/cma-receives-two-appeal-applications-over-electricity-distribution-network-price-controls\">announced it had received the appeals<\/a> earlier this month and will now appoint a group of panel members to determine them. <\/p>\n<p>The appeals are made under section 11C of the Electricity Act 1989 and relate to price controls made for the 8-year period from 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2023. <abbr title=\"British Gas Trading Limited\">BGT<\/abbr> is not an electricity distribution network operator; it is seeking to appeal as a party materially affected by the decision. The details of the price controls were <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ofgem.gov.uk\/publications-and-updates\/ofgem-announces-%C2%A317-billion-new-investment-package-and-reduces-pressure-customer-bills\">announced in November 2014<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ofgem may now make representations or observations to the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> about the reasons for its decision, the subject of appeal and\/or any grounds on which the appeal has been brought against that decision in accordance with Rule 9 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/284450\/cc14.pdf\">Competition Commission Energy Licence Modification Appeals Rules<\/a> as adopted by the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n<p>Interested third parties may also make representations or observations to the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> about the grounds on which the appeal has been brought in accordance with Rule 10 of the Competition Commission Energy Licence Modification Appeals Rules as adopted by the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>.  Interested third parties should refer to the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/assets.digital.cabinet-office.gov.uk\/media\/551029e6ed915d1424000014\/First_note_to_third_parties.pdf\"><abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s note to third parties<\/a> before making submissions.<\/p>\n<p>All submissions should reach the Inquiry Manager (<a href=\"mailto:npgandbgt.ofgem@cma.gsi.gov.uk\">npgandbgt.ofgem@cma.gsi.gov.uk<\/a>) by no later than 5pm on 22 April 2015.
