At this sacred time of Passover, I wish Jewish communities in Britain, Israel and around the world a very happy and peaceful Pesach.<\/p>\n

In so many countries, families and friends will be coming together to celebrate the freedom of their ancestors. <\/p>\n

Even thousands of years on from the Exodus, the story of emancipation inspires millions around the globe. <\/p>\n

And this story of Passover \u2013 when the Children of Israel were freed from slavery and suffering \u2013 can give hope to those who are oppressed today. <\/p>\n

It gives everyone \u2013 from all faiths and none \u2013 a chance to join the worldwide Jewish community in giving thanks for the freedoms that most of us can enjoy today.<\/p>\n

And it is a time to reflect on the continuing struggle for liberty that so many in our world still face \u2013 a time to redouble our efforts to bring about lasting peace in the regions of the world where oppression and fear still exist.<\/p>\n

Finally, I would like to once again praise the British Jewish community for their incredible contribution to our country. Yours is a community which has excelled in every field imaginable helping to create the tolerant, successful, multi-ethnic, multi-faith democracy that we are today.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
