{"id":56298,"date":"2015-04-09T13:00:16","date_gmt":"2015-04-09T13:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=f66fc9269a1598c8373d6f7cdd846317"},"modified":"2015-04-09T13:00:16","modified_gmt":"2015-04-09T13:00:16","slug":"press-release-cma-appoints-deputy-chief-economic-adviser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=56298","title":{"rendered":"Press release: CMA appoints Deputy Chief Economic Adviser"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Kate is currently Economics Director for Markets and Mergers at the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> and in her new position will continue to report to the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s Chief Economic Adviser, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/people\/mike-walker\">Dr Mike Walker<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy Chief Economic Adviser will be a key member of the Chief Economic Adviser\u2019s leadership team, with a shared responsibility for leading the economics profession at the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> and being responsible for the quality of economic work it carries out.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>, Kate was Director of Economic Analysis at the Competition Commission (<abbr title=\"Competition Commission\">CC<\/abbr>) from 2012, having rejoined the <abbr title=\"Competition Commission\">CC<\/abbr> after 4 years as Director of Economics at the Cooperation and Competition Panel of the Department of Health. Kate\u2019s early career was as an economic consultant with Lexecon Ltd.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Mike Walker said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We had very strong competition for this role from private practice, other regulators and internally, but Kate was the outstanding candidate, so I am very pleased that she has accepted the job of Deputy Chief Economic Adviser.  I am sure she will be a great success in the role.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3 id=\"notes-for-editors\">Notes for editors<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> is the UK\u2019s primary competition and consumer authority. It is an independent non-ministerial government department with responsibility for carrying out investigations into mergers, markets and the regulated industries and enforcing competition and consumer law.
